Royal celebrations have begun after Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton gave birth to a baby boy this morning.

Kensington Palace has confirmed the birth of the healthy new arrival at 11.01am at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

The newborn weighed 8lbs 7oz, and both are said to be doing well. Prince William was by Kate’s side for the birth, while it is expected that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be meeting their new baby brother this afternoon.

The world now awaits the official introduction to the new baby. As is tradition, Kate and William will step out from the Lindo Wing to greet a gathering of news cameras with the already famous baby.

The name of the new child has not yet been announced, although the latest predictions are Arthur, James, Alexander or Jack.

In just a few week’s time, the family will be celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – who might have to add a new name to the guest list!
