We are just eight days away from one of Ireland biggest Christmas events - The Late Late Toy Show.

Excitement is rising among young and old for the Toy Show show on December 1st, and now we know what the theme will be.

A teaser trailer released today shows that the studio decorations will be inspired by the classic Christmas tale of The Nutcracker. Here’s a sneak peek at the trailer, which will be released in full tonight:

The Nutcracker has been a holiday tradition for more than 125 years – but it’s clearly having a revival in 2017, especially in Donegal.

Last week we saw the McElhinneys Christmas Windows in Ballybofey being transformed into acts from the ballet, with Clara, Mother Ginger, and the Nutcracker Prince all featured in stunning sparkling scenes.

Plus, Letterkenny’s local ZoNa Ballet Company will be performing The Nutcracker in An Grianan Theatre this December 12-16th!

Now, we’ll be stepping back in time to the land of sweets, Sugar Plum Fairies and Mouse Kings again during the Toy Show.

The trailer sees host Ryan Tubridy dressed as the iconic toy soldier and enjoying festive fun with kids in a snowglobe. It’s all a little girl’s dream of course, but we’re dreaming of next Friday when we can get cosy on the sofa and see it all unfold.

The Late Late Toy Show airs at 9.35pm on December 1 on RTE One. There will be the usual funny kids, celebrity guests and talented acts.

Make sure to keep an eye out for Donegal Town-based band Revolutionary!
