A Letterkenny court heard this week how two friends engaged in a vicious fight at a summer music festival.

Two women swung each other by the hair before trying to gouge each other’s eyes out at the Lennon Festival in Ramelton, Donegal Daily reports.

One of the women, Laetitia Candido, appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with assault and being drunk.

Gardai told how they came across the two women fighting in the street.

The two women, who were friends, fell out and began swinging each other by the hair before attempting to “gouge each other’s eyes out.”

Gardai broke up the pair but Ms Candido remained aggressive before being arrested by Gardai.

Solicitor for the accused, Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client had been drinking and admitted her drinking had “clearly become a problem.”

He added that Ms Candido, aged 19 years of 25 Glencar Park, Letterkenny was trying to get her life in order.

She was hoping to attend the Kerry Institute of Technology where she is hoping to study tourism and hospitality.

Judge Paul Kelly asked if there were any injuries sustained during the fight but Mr Dorrian said the young women had made up and are now friends again.

Judge Kelly adjourned the case until November 7th for a victim impact statement form the other woman and also for a Probation Report to be carried out on Ms Candido.
