Ulster champions and league finalists Donegal have five team members in the running for Ladies GAA All-Star awards.

It was announced this week that Glenfin duo Karen Guthrie and Yvonne McMonagle, Moville sisters Niamh and Ciara Hegarty and Termon sharpshooter Geraldine McLaughlin are included among the Ladies All-Star nominees.

Donegal had a fine 2017, reaching the League final, in which they were beaten by Cork, while they defeated Monaghan 4-11 to 0-15 in the Ulster final.

Donegal subsequently lost to Mayo in an All-Ireland quarter-final and the Tir Chonaill women are on the look-out for a new manager after Micheál Naughton stepped down last week.

Senior champions Dublin lead the way with 12 nominations, while Lidl National League Division 1 winners Cork are honoured with nine players on the list.

Mayo forward Cora Staunton could earn a record-equalling 11th All-Star award on the night, after the Carnacon player was shortlisted for the full-forward position.

The 2017 TG4 All Star team will be announced at a gala banquet at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, 25 November, along with the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Players’ Player of the Year award winners, the Provincial Young Players of the Year and the 2017 inductee into the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) Hall of Fame.
