Rachel from DonegalWoman.ie visits Donegal's only Clinique Hydrobar at McElhinneys to try the new Moisture Surge Concentrate.

Clinique Moisture Surge

Clinique have launched a new Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate to help all thirsty skin problems this summer. The long name sounds like a wonder product, so I went to Donegal’s only Clinique counter at McElhinneys to see if it really works.

McElhinneys have opened a Hydrobar to celebrate the launch and make sure we can all be treated to a boost of this pure hydration.

I checked in for a little You-Time with Clinique consultant Barbara this week and would really recommend it to everyone. A trip to the counter is having a mini pamper day!

Barbara has been treating women to expert skin care advice for years and knows exactly what every woman’s skin needs.

Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate

We all know we need to moisturise, but Clinique’s new Moisture Surge Concentrate promises to deliver an instant 179% moisture boost.

Barbara explained that there are spheres of air bubbles in the water-gel that burst on the skin to release vitamins E and C antioxidants to protect the skin from dehydrating and help fight ageing. Sounds good to me!

My normal-dry skin needed this boost after a hot few days of summer. People with oily skin can benefit from the concentrate just as much since the products are water-based and deliver hydration without clogging skin pores.

All set for the hydro-boost!

I enjoyed some refreshing lime and mint-infused water while Barbara did Clinique’s 3 step skincare system to prepare me for my moisture treat. Everyone who comes to the Clinique counter can get the full treatment, which can be adapted to suit how much time you have to spend in the store.

Barbara firstly removed my makeup with the Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk. She takes time to talk to me about my skin and see what my problem areas might be – which are usually dry patches and dry, tired eyes.

Next step is a facial with a Sonic Brush and Sonic Facial Soap. The brush pulsates all around your face to massage and cleanse every area. It’s amazingly gentle and feels like having a lovely de-stressing massage.

Then it was time for the Moisture Surge Concentrate. A great thing about the water-gel is that it is so light it can be applied around your eye area. It gives 24-hour hydration and you can use it either day or night.

The wee treat Barbara adds is applying the concentrate with the Sonic massaging applicators – a buzzing head that spreads the cool gel before she works it in with her hands to help circulation.

We top this up with the Moisture Surge extended thirst relief cream to help me get that dewy glow that looks fresh and healthy – qualities that all Clinique products aim to achieve. This moisturiser is oil-free and it feels like a great base for makeup as it is not too oily that my foundation could slide.

Once I’ve had the whole Hydrobar treatment, Barbara and I had fun with colours to play with the new Clinique + Jonathan Adler range. This is a beautifully fresh and colourful summer collection.

I wouldn’t normally add colour around my eyes, but since we are all about hydration and water themes I loved it when Barbara added a metallic blue to my lower lash line.

This upscale day look was flush with colour and I could really see my skin was glowing and more plump after the moisture surge treatments.
