Rev. Alison Gallagher came second in her category in the 2017 Walled City Marathon this weekend.

Donegal Methodist Minister Rev. Alison Gallagher made two great achievements when she completed the Walled City Marathon in Derry on Saturday.

Rev. Gallagher took on the marathon challenge to raise funds to construct a new church and community hall in Moville. This has been a main focus of her ministry since she was ordained in 2016.

Alison joined the 1,500 runners who took part in the marathon on June 4th for various causes. She had huge success, coming 2nd in her sub-category (F55) with a time of 4 hours 14 minutes and 26 seconds.

Alison had a busy run up to the event as she campaigned to raise money to rebuild the church and hall. The overall cost of construction will be €300,000, so Alison is doing all she can to help the community reach the goal.

Alison set a target of €10,000 for people to support her 26.2 mile race efforts and has so far gathered €4,000 in donations.

The local Methodist Church in Movile aims to build a multi-function community centre for many different groups to benefit from it, e.g., parent and toddler, children’s activities and adult education classes.
