Travel columnist Anna Farren gives her top tips on two of Ireland's biggest summer festivals.

A focus on 2fm this week has been on festivals, which made me feel it be only right to introduce you (by way of a video link here) to a festival I attended for the first time last year – Body & Soul, and share some snaps of my all time favourite festival – Electric Picnic.

Body & Soul takes place every June at Ballinlough Castle, Co. Westmeath and is a festival not to be missed! With any number of food stands and multiple stages, tents, games areas, face paint stands and so much more – one couldn’t but have the best weekend among friends at Ballinlough Castle this June.

Electric Picnic, too, can see the magic involved at this chilled out festival for a weekend of R&R, festival style. They have their own area dedicated to Body & Soul at their own festival taking place this September, also, a festival not to be missed!

With these being my top picks, but my budget not extending to visiting both this year, I recommend you attend at least one.

My choice this year – Electric Picnic, where the music is more to my liking and I too have the option of popping to the Body & Soul area to get the best of both worlds throughout my one weekend.

Be sure to check out all the high street stores online for their festival style picks, and book your ticket to a festival of your choice this year.

Hurry though! March 23rd sees the day that the final release of tickets for Electric Picnic this year, will go on sale.

Should you attend Body & Soul, share your snaps and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on Electric Picnic tickets, see you there!

TOP TIP: Pay the extra €100 for Pink Moon Camping – it is so worth it, not only for the convenience of your tent being pitched, but also for the FREE pampering tent which is fully equipped with hairdryers and straighteners to ease your camping frizz throughout the weekend!
