Four Donegal players were part of the Marino Institute of Education Team that won the Donaghy Cup at the weekend.

Marino defeated Royal College of Surgeons 3-11 to 1-10 in the final, played at Islandeady in Mayo.

Raphoe woman Eimear Shovlin was the goalkeeper on the Marino side and was joined in the Marino side by St Mary’s Convoy team-mate Caoimhe Browne and Termon’s Roisin McKelvey.

Marino were captained by Sean MacCumhaills woman Lucy Murphy.

Marino defeated St Pat’s 3-10 to 1-9 in their semi-final.

“It’s one to remember, definitely,” said Murphy.

“Every year, we’ve been slogging trying to push girls on and it’s been so hard. We have been waiting for so long for this. We’re so proud and delighted.

“At the start of the year, we wanted this memory. When you put in that work over four years, you want something to remember. It was just perfect.”
