A new video released by Rockhill House Estate last night teased the arrival of an exciting new wedding venue for Donegal.

Rockhill House, on the outskirts of Letterkenny, is one of Donegal’s most historic houses and is now set to be one of the most decadent wedding venues in the northwest.

“We are history” the video begins, featuring actors in vintage clothing. The characters move through classic hallways of the former country manor, revealing a blend of decay and grandeur in the decor.

The house is being transformed by businessman John Molloy after he bought it in 2014 for €670,000. It will be restored to its former glory by May 2017, when it will reopen as a secluded venue for weddings, special events, private dining or group accommodation events.

There are likely to be plenty of stories within the walls of the home which was occupied by gentry in centuries past. The house and grounds more recently served as an Irish Army barracks from 1969 to 2009.

Rockhill House had fallen into decay before being adopted by Mr Molloy and renovated. The big reveal of the venue is said to come “all in good time”.
