The second episode of Dancing with the Stars aired last night, and it was the girls' turn to turn up the glam.

We won’t talk much about Hughie Maughan’s tan, because the shock of his skin colour is over and done. In fact Hughie himself looked overdone. All the stars bared bronze skin on the show, but this week Hughie just went a shade (or ten) too far…

Once we checked our TV settings were okay and let our eyes adjust, we then got down to watching the six female contestants dance.

For the second week in a row all eleven stars were safe from elimination, however in the third show next week, the first star and their dancing partner will leave the show.

Fair City’s Aoibhin Garrihy was first up with her dance partner Vitali Kozmin as they Cha Cha-ed to Jason Delruo – Want to Want Me. Their saucy Cuban style and energy earned good comments from the judges. “Cha Cha double boom what a way to open” said Julian Benson.

Judges Julian Benson, Loraine Barry, and Brian Redmond

Aoibhinn scored 21.

Slowing things down to the Dusty Springfield’s – If you go Away, comedian Katherine Lynch gliding across the dance floor with her partner Kai Widdrington, with a classic Waltz. Her graceful number impressed the judges. Julian was really complimentary. “Such a transformation, you were Cinderella going to the ball, you should be proud of yourself.”.

Katherine scored 18.

Elegance personified, international model Thalia Heffernan alongside side the debonair Curtis Prichard, took on the challenge from catwalk to dance floor, with an impressive Quick Step to Country Stars – One Republic. They all agreed she needed to bend her upper spine. “You have definite potential to go on and become a dance star” said Brian.

Thalia scored 16.

Next up was straight –talking Doctor Eva Osmond, ready to burn a few calories with the sizzling Salsa with an appropriately medical themed dance to Doctor Beat – Miami Sound Machine. It was revealed tonight that eager Eva has really been putting Sean through his paces and even weighed and measured him when they first met!

“You changed to become the dancer with a fun dance, you need to get the feet and leg going to stay in the event” said Lorraine.  “I am going to call you Doctor Fun after that, it needed a bit of sauce. I do admire you. It was a good remedy as a pick me up” said Julian.

Dr Eva scored 13.

Catapulted to fame from being caught in a gale, news reporter Teresa Mannion went down a storm with her dance partner John Nolan, with a tango to Here Comes the Rain Again – Eurythmics with their weather themed tempestuous performance. She earned great praise from Julian as he commented with “Storm Teresa is on its way, you were gale force, great use of floor, touch of dominatrix in you, you came out and gave it everything.”

Teresa scored 16.

IFTA Irish Actor and star of Red Rock, brought a bit of rock n roll to the ballroom. Denise McCormack and her partner jived to a high energy version Taylor’s Swift – Shake it Off.

Lorraine said “The music said shake it all that’s what you did.  You have that passion from Ryan.  That  was jive- alicious” as only Julian could add.

Denise scored 22. – very appropriate for a Taylor Swift piece!

The evening would not have been complete without a dance from our male celebrity dancers.  But it wasn’t their performance to Daft Punk’s- Get Lucky that set tongues wagging. It was Hughie Maughan’s OTT tan. Despite protestations from the production team there was no stopping Hughie lathering on the false tan. An insider revealed‘as hard as we tried Hughie had a solid grasp on his bronzer and there was no releasing it’. Hughie has told colleagues ‘you can’t have enough tan’.

Dayle and Ksenai are currently at the top of the judge’s Leaderboard with a score of 23.

What did you think of the ladies last night? Will you tune in again next week?
