Take care out there - a Status Orange wind warning has been issued for Co Donegal.

Met Eireann have issued the warning saying gusts could reach up to 120kph in places.

People have been warned to taking extra care when out and about especially when near the coastline or walking near trees.

The warning will remain until 6pm on Friday and a new forecast will then come into operation.

The alert has been issued for counties Donegal, Mayo and Galway.

It comes as the national weather forecaster warn of stormy weather conditions on Christmas Day with Storm Barbara set to roll in.

STATUS ORANGE

Wind Warning for Coastal regions and high ground of Donegal, Galway and Mayo

Very windy on Friday: Southerly winds, later west to southwest of 65 to 75 km/h with severe gusts between 100 and 120 km/h.
