Mastering social media, reducing plastic use, event planning and wellness - There will be so much to learn this National Volunteer Week 2020.

Donegal Volunteer Centre will celebrate National Volunteer Week September 21st – 25th with a series of online workshops and information sessions to support volunteers and community groups across Donegal.

Eamonn Bonner from Donegal Volunteer Centre outlined a number of the sessions: “there will be a session from Aidan Spence on social media as a tool for Charity Shops, a session on reducing household use of single use plastic with Simon Ruddy from CUSP and a lunchtime talk with therapist Maria Whelan on dealing with Covid Stress and protecting yourself as the pandemic goes on.”

John Curran from the Centre discussed the Festivals & Events session that will be held on the 23rd of September.

He outlined: “We in the DVC are very aware of the impact COVID has had on festivals and events across Donegal and how difficult it will be for them to get going next year which is why we have partnered with Colm Croffy of AOIFE, the small festivals association to offer a masterclass on how festivals and events can plan events and prepare for the 2021 season.”

In addition, the DVC team will be visiting a number of community facilities across the county to acknowledge their work, see the efforts being made to reopen and better understand how the CVD can help groups as they emerge from lockdown.
