A unique fundraising project by former Dungloe Mary Rachel Doherty has raised €550 for the Donegal Women’s Centre.

Rachel enlisted the help of local women to create a video that played a crucial role in raising awareness of domestic violence against women during Covid-19.

Thirty seven women from Donegal and surrounding areas contributed their photos to promote an impactful message: ‘Eyes are the Window to the Soul’.

The campaign raised €550 to support the Donegal Women’s Centre as they help women in crisis during the pandemic and all year round.

The doors may be temporarily closed, but support is still available.

Rachel visited the centre recently to proudly present a cheque to Manager Mary Maguire.

Rachel said: “The funding raised will go back into Donegal Women’s Centre to help the women of the community.

“I would like to thank Mary especially and her team who have been so lovely and welcoming of this project.

“The women’s centre are #StillHere.

“Thank you to all the strong women that took part in the video. The finished product portrayed the message I wanted to get across.
And thanks Conor Doherty for your brilliant editing skills.

“Don’t feel like your on your own, reach out, help is out there for you.”

Donegal Women’s Centre offers counselling, support, courses and other services for women in County Donegal.
