The artists of Wild Atlantic Women have a lot to celebrate today after receiving presidential praise for their unique Covid-19 collaboration.

The project, which premiered last week, saw over 30 talented singers recording segments of the ‘Homes of Donegal‘ ballad from their homes in beautiful locations around the county.

The video has gained over 124,000 views worldwide and touched many hearts with its focus on Donegal’s landscape, music tradition and local female artists of all ages.

President of Ireland Michael D Higgins now is singing the praises of everyone involved.

The group received a letter from the President’s Office today which said: “The creativity that was displayed in the reproduction of the beautiful song in these extraordinary times is both heartwarming and of great comfort to many people and communities, as is evident in the numbers you reached on social media.”

The President thanked group director Brí Carr for her thoughtfulness in writing and sharing the “wonderful work” and sent his best wishes to all involved in this time of national solidarity.

The letter has provided yet another boost to the group as they continue to collaborate remotely to share positivity through the power of song and social media.
