Interior Designer Anne Tuohy has three ideas to make a home as uplifting as possible at this time.

Many of us are confined to home at the moment, we are anxious and worried, and I have realised that there is something that I can do to help.

Here are three things that you can do immediately to improve your use of space, to create calm and happiness in your home and to make it as uplifting as possible.

I have also made a commitment to create a daily Facebook Live at 3pm every Monday to Friday, to uplift and inspire you until Corona has left us.

All the videos will be recorded, so you can watch them whenever you like. Here is the Facebook link. http://www.facebook.com/RoomJunkie

Also, if you would like me to cover a specific topic that would help you in your own home, please leave me a comment below.

One – Ditch the Clutter

Clutter creates tension and chaos, whether it is an untidy room, a cupboard or drawer ready to burst open, or a desk strewn with paper. It weighs you down mentally and physically, and you will never achieve a calm home without it.

Make a plan, carry it out room by room, cupboard by cupboard, be ruthless and get rid of everything that you do not love or use.

As we are confined to our homes during these difficult times, there was never a better time to detox your house.

Two – Create a Signature Scent

Memories are tied up in familiar scents, and I just love coming home and smelling Jo Malone’s Lime, Basil & Mandarin, which instantly says ” welcome home” to us. I want you to aim for subtlety, not an overpowering effect, but you will always be conscious of the comforting, underlying smell.

So, pick whatever make you feel good. The secret lies in have the one scent running through your home. It will definitely contribute to a pleasing, familiar sense of contentment.

Three – Create a Gallery Wall

There was never a better time to create a gallery wall, a story of your family and happy times. Your children’s smiling faces will bring much joy to your life, and will help create a home full of positive inspiration.

If you would like to learn how to do this, just visit the Room Junkie Facebook page or watch the video here:

Together we will overcome these difficult times.

Brighter days are coming.
