A Donegal woman can proudly say she makes Ireland’s best brown bread after winning a national competition this week.

Samara Ward from Inver was on a roll in The National Brown Bread Baking Competition, sponsored by Aldi, at the National Ploughing Championships.

The final was held on Thursday in the Aldi Marquee at the National Ploughing Championships in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co. Carlow where Samara rose to the challenge and emerged victorious, commended by the judges for her Brown Bread’s traditional appearance and perfect texture.

Samara’s brown bread will be stocked in all 139 Aldi Stores in Ireland for a minimum of six months and during this time Samara will receive a share of the profits, guaranteed to be at least €15,000.
