Driving up to Lough Eske Castle feels like you’re entering another world. And it definitely did last Friday as my sister and I escaped Letterkenny to treat ourselves to a few hours of food, relaxation and catching up in the stunning surrounds of the castle hotel.

Summer at Lough Eske Castle

The Afternoon Indulgence offer is the perfect way to experience the spa and castle this summer. The spa at Lough Eske is, in my opinion, one of the very best in the north west. That’s down to the unique setting, the pristinely clean thermal suite and the luxury products and treatments.

Afternoon Indulgence lets you experience all this at a low cost, making it great for friends, sisters, mums/daughters couples or any groups to enjoy a day out together.

You can have traditional afternoon tea in one of the drawing rooms before being pampered in the Spa.

Afternoon Indulgence Offer: Enjoy a choice of one or two treatments:

  •         Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage (25 min Treatment)

                                                                    and/or

  •         Luxury Express Facial (25 min Treatment)

One mini treatment and Afternoon Tea €69.00 per person Monday – Thursday / €79 per person Friday – Sunday

Two mini treatments and Afternoon Tea €99.00 per person Monday – Thursday / €125.00 per person Friday – Sunday

What I love is that guests are given all the time they need to unwind in the thermal suite and relaxation rooms at the Spa. So you can really make the most of the day.

My sister Chloe and I started the day with afternoon tea. We loved the complimentary Prosecco, which is available with bookings all this month. You also get a great choice of black, green or herbal teas. Little factors like having the tealights under the teapots to keep them warm was a lovely touch.

Cheers to complimentary prosecco!

The food was a delicious mix of savoury sandwiches – all unique flavours and breads, scones and a top tier of sweet treats by Pastry Chef Eric Besson. They tasted as good as they look! My favourite was the Strawberry and Mint Mousse Choux Bun – we almost asked for more of those.

After tea, we had a lovely short walk through the grounds to the Spa. Haley was my spa therapist, who gave me a great introduction to the newly-introduced ESPA products that would be used for the massage and facial.

ESPA is an English brand and their products are 98-100% natural. During the facial, I loved all the fresh and fruity scents from the products. I really liked the feel of the Optimal Pro-Cleanser because it’s an exfoliator, cleanser and nourishing mask in one.

The back, neck and shoulder massage was brilliant. Haley tailored it to suit me, so it was more of a deep tissue massage to help with gym soreness. She also used a wonderful energising body oil for muscles. The facial was also tailored to my skin – which needed a lot of hydration! My skin was glowing afterwards and felt really cleansed and refreshed.

At Lough Eske Spa, you notice the elements that set it apart from others, like the comfort of the bed in the treatment room, the quiet surrounds and professionalism of the team. A visit is always a luxurious time-out.
