Lorna Curran is well ready for the fashion world!

Up and coming designer Lorna Curran is taking the fashion industry by storm after showcasing some very interesting designs to commemorate strong women in Irish history.

Lorna is a 22-year-old graduate from Ulster University and has recently shown off her collection in Belfast at the Ulster University Graduate Fashion Show.

Talking about her collection, the Creeslough creative said she “took inspiration from the Second World War and also Constance Markievicz and her clothes.”

2018 marked a hundred years since women in Ireland were granted their right to vote and through her collection, Lorna wanted to commemorate the Suffrage Movement and women’s right to vote in 1918.

The main colours of the collection are purple, white and green with floral patches and brooches.

Having the opportunity to show off her collection on stage in St. Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast was an amazing experience for the young designer.

When asked about the show Lorna said, “The response was overwhelming!”

People are taking interest in her collection already and want to buy some of the pieces and Lorna mentioned that “the aftermath has been really nice.”

It wasn’t an easy job for the fashion designer when making her collection as it was focused on tailor wear and there is “a lot of precision with tailor wear.”

Lorna also mentioned that it was “very hard putting it together”, but she got there in the end and produced a collection that many people loved.

Fashion has always been on Lorna’s mind since she was very young and she said that “she never wanted to do anything else.”

She also shared an adorable fact that her mum still has all of her drawings since she was 5 years old.
