DW Editor Rachel McLaughlin lets the colour experts of Patrick Gildea Hairdressing work their magic.
Patrick Gildea Hairdressers in Letterkenny is known as a house of excellence. It’s a premier experience for any guest, so I was more than delighted to visit this week for a colour makeover before the Christmas party season.
In the capable hands of New Generation Stylist Josey Green, I learned that getting the perfect colour at Patrick Gildea’s is all about personalisation through the consultation and analysis.
I have naturally brown hair and a blonde balayage. All I knew was that I’d like to go lighter, but Josey was able to guide me through their signature consultation service to find the best shades to suit me.
We looked at my skin tone, eye colour, and natural hair to determine that warm ‘Summer’ colouring was best. Through looking at the salon’s guest menu and colour boards we picked a blonde gradient to softly brighten my ends. I felt I was very much a part of the choosing process and was delighted with the results.
Josey also studied the condition of my hair and scalp to read its ‘EnergyCode’. Patrick Gildea use System Professional haircare, so each shampoo, conditioner and styling product is chosen to treat my hair problem areas – I needed smoothing and hydration!
After dye and toning, I got the chance to see the famous new Dyson Airwrap in action.
The Dyson is one of the most in-demand hair-styling tools of the year. The futuristic low-heat Airwrap can curl, wave and volumise hair in a much healthier way. Patrick Gildea are the Dyson Hair ambassadors of the north west and boast their own Dyson blowdry bar.
Josey used the Dyson Airwrap curler on my hair while damp, and it formed into fresh, big, bouncy ringlets. It took half the time of a traditional blow dry. I had beautiful polished waves when it was brushed out. They lasted all through the night and held their volume the next day.
I was delighted with my bright refreshed balayage for Christmas, especially the colour contours that framed my face.
Josey is a New Generation stylist, which means she’s one of the newest members of the team. She has been training for over 3 years to develop the skills to join Patrick Gildea’s elite team, and she’s clearly got the talent.
The New Generation team can be booked with a 30% off discount for students, so it’s a great offer for those who want a vibrant new look.
I can’t wait to share more stories from Patrick Gildea salon soon. We’ll be experiencing the new Allure Beauty Salon and more in the weeks and months to come. Stay tuned!
