A magical children's book written by Donegal author Evelyn Mc Glynn is back for 2018.

Freckles The Elf travelled all over the world in the past two years with her Christmas message, that no matter where you live, as long as there is love and kindness, there is Home.

The colourful illustrated story published by Crafty Kids toy shop Letterkenny gives Santa Claus special powers through a #GPSChristmasheatbeat tracking computer.

The story of Freckles The Elf Christmas Magic In Ireland is about a little boy called Shaun, and his family who leave New York just before Christmas for a new life in Ireland. Shaun however, is worried that Santa will not be able to find his new home in Ballytown, Ireland.

Shaun’s worried letter to Santa reaches Freckles The Elf, a sprightly Leprechaelf who embarks on a mission with her new Irish friend Mulligan to deliver an unforgettable festive season for Shaun and his family.

Kids and adults alike have enjoyed the magical adventures of Freckles and friends, discovering the joy of storytelling and imagination.

Evelyn Mc Glynn, from Ballybofey, wrote the book as a direct result of a tradition of reading a story on Christmas Eve with her own family for over 20 years. She got great help and feedback from local Donegal children while writing the book and research help from family in New York City.

The illustrations were provided by Letterkenny designer Jenny Yourell, greatly adding to this heart-warming book and Joe McHugh TD, Minister for Education and Skills, provided a foreword for this unique Christmas story.

Families will get the opportunity to discuss topics in the story line such as emigration, refugees, united nations, Irish geography and culture all wrapped up in a magical Christmas story of loving and giving and celebrating Christmas wherever you are in the world.
