Some eager volunteers are enjoying their last few days of having hair before they shave (and some wax!) it all off for a great cause.

The ‘Big Shave for Lucy’ takes place on Saturday 24th November 2018 at the Clanree Hotel Letterkenny from 9pm.

All funds raised will be donated to the family of 5-year-old Lucy Mc Geehan from Castlederg.

Lucy, whose parents Lynne and Paul are both from Donegal, is currently battling the rare cancer Ewing’s Sarcoma.

The bright and bubbly ‘wee trooper’ is undergoing chemo for a tumour on her spine. She has already had spinal surgery and her medical team are considering specialist therapy in Germany.

Family and friends of Lucy came together to support the McGeehans during this tough time. A fund has been set up to help Lynne and Paul cover costs as they must take time off work to be with Lucy in Belfast and at home.

The fundraising team have organised a great night of entertainment with the upcoming charity head shave.

Eight brave men are getting a new do, while five fearless volunteers are going for a wax!

Margarets Unisex Haircare in Raphoe and The Barber Shop in Ramelton are both kindly giving up their time to do the honours.

Everyone is welcome to this fun night out. Organisers are hinting that there will be plenty more surprises in store.

A jam-packed auction and raffle will also be held on the night. Approximately 70 prizes have been generously donated from local businesses and personalities to help boost the fundraising total.

Among the star items up for auction will be a champagne bottle corked by three-time Donegal International Rally winners Manus Kelly and Donall Barrett, along with signed Rally memorabilia.

A signed photo of the cast of hit C4 comedy Derry Girls is also expected to gather great interest.

Stones from Tinney’s quarry and gardening equipment from Heiton Buckley will fetch some good totals too.

Other prizes include Smyth’s Toy vouchers (useful coming up to Christmas), boilersuits and farm equipment, handbags, toolkits, meals for 2 and all sorts of other great items.

If you’re looking for something different to do this Saturday, then come on down to the Clanree Hotel at 9pm (event begins at 9.30pm) and support the ‘Lucy VS Cancer’ campaign.
