Leading Beautician Lorraine Quinn explains all you need to know about dermaplaning to achieve radiant flawless skin fast.
Dermaplaning is the top ‘Buzz Word’ in the skincare industry at the moment and is one of the most popular facial treatments here at Beauty at the Lodge.
It’s a go-to treatment for celebrities who swear by the amazing results to glossy magazines that boast its benefits.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a safe, effective treatment for overall skin rejuvenation.
Treating dry, rough skin, acne scars, uneven skin tone, large pores, fine lines….even unwanted facial hair.
The true definition of Dermaplaning involves using a surgical blade to remove superficial dead layers of the skin along with fine vellus hairs (peach fuzz) giving clients an immediate luminous glow.
It’s a form of deep exfoliation that improves skin turnover and healing, in addition to allowing better penetration of skin care products.
This will leave the skin more radiant and healthier looking. Dermaplaning is appropriate for all ages and for most skin types.
It is helpful to address mild textural abnormalities in the skin and to make skin more refreshed through improved cell renewal.
It is a great option for clients with sensitive skin and is especially popular with pregnant ladies.
Dermaplaning removes excess fine hairs which are known for trapping the dirt, oil and dead skin cells in your pores that are the main cause of acne and blemishes.
This is a non-evasive treatment which can be provided as frequently as once a month.
How soon will I see results?
The best part about Dermaplaning are the immediate results!
Many first time dermaplaners say their skin has never felt or looked so smooth and radiant before!
In addition to allowing skin care products to penetrate the skin better

Will my facial hair grow back darker & thicker?
I know there may be concerns regarding the removal of vellus hair. It’s the number one question I am frequently asked, so let me explain.
Have no fear! It is physiologically impossible for your vellus hair to grow back thicker.
The fine, translucent downy hair on your face is called vellus hair (peach fuzz)and is found on your face, earlobes, chest and back. The base of the vellus hair lies very close to the skin’s surface. This is totally different from terminal hair, which is far coarser and grows on your head, underarms, pubic area and brows.
Because vellus hair is so fine and different from terminal hair, it DOES NOT make it grow back thicker or feel stubbly after Dermaplaning.
Men’s facial hair is terminal hair, ours is vellus. As we age, we get more peach fuzz. Many women remove it regularly with threading, waxing and now dermaplaning!
