Cassie’s makeup skills are Hallow-goals!

A talented makeup artist from Crolly is making waves on Instagram with her amazing body art.

Cassie Gillespie puts her own twist on special effects makeup and uses her body as a canvas for jawdropping designs.

The creative 23-year-old has transformed herself into scenes from popular movies, TV shows such as Game of Thrones and famous artwork.

Cassie paints her neck with the intricate images by looking in the mirror.

And she says some designs can take five to seven hours to complete.

Cassie tells DW: “I see my body as a canvas. I was inspired by another artist in Australia and thought I’d give it a shot. Body art gives you so much more space to work with. You can paint anything, you can bring it down your neck, chest and arms.”

Cassie graduated in Textiles and Fine Arts from the National College of Art and Design last year and is working towards doing a specialist SFX course in November.

“I have always had a passion for makeup. I’ve always been playing with it from a young age,” Cassie said.

Her body art may be the ultimate inspiration for our Halloween costumes this year, but Cassie explains that she sometimes goes to painstaking lengths to get them just right.

“My most recent design of Halloween horror characters took 7 hours to do because there were so many characters and faces,” she said.

After all that effort, it seems like a shame to wipe them off afterwards.

Cassie says: “I basically paint them, take photos for social media and wash them off. You do get attached to them when you spend so much time doing it. But I love it.”

While Cassie says she can’t exactly go out and about with this makeup, she uses her Instagram as a platform to show her work to the world:

She says: “Instagram is great for makeup artists. It’s a time when we can be really creative. There are no boundaries. We are all inspired by other artists and you do your own version on what you see. It’s very exciting.”
