As presentation skills become more important at school and in working life, Letterkenny teacher Anna Farren aims to provide young people with the skills and confidence to thrive.

Anna Farren – Farren School of Speech and Drama

Letterkenny teacher Anna Farren has returned home to Donegal. The experienced drama tutor is about to launch the Farren School of Speech and Drama in September 2018 and is inviting enthusiastic young people to join the fun.

Anna has many years of experience in the arts and holds a Masters in Drama in Education from Trinity College Dublin. She is an active committee member for the Association of Drama in Education Ireland (ADEI) where she has had experience delivering workshops in Marino Institute of Education. She founded her own Speech and Drama school in Drumcondra, Dublin where she successfully ran both one to one and group classes for three years.

Anna’s pupils enjoyed success in the grade exams with the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM). Now with her return home to Donegal she is delighted to bring her expertise to her new school in Letterkenny.

Anna provides one to one tuition, preparing children and young adults for exams in association with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, as well as gaining lifelong skills in public speaking and performance.

Another very useful benefit of the classes are the oral communication skills that students build for school success. The new English Junior Cert sees students participating in performance pieces, public speaking, presentations and interviews. Anna’s experience in teaching and drama allows her to help students find their confidence and communication skills to excel in the mainstream curriculum at primary and secondary level.

What makes Farren School of Speech and Drama unique is that all classes are delivered on a one-to-one basis. Each session is fine-tuned to help students with both outgoing and shy personalities thrive.

Anna said: “The one-to-one environment is suitable for all, from the most extrovert, to those needing gentle encouragement to explore their talents and interests.”

“The ethos and environment of the school is one of inclusion, positivity, encouragement and most of all, fun. I am very excited to launch my Speech and Drama school in Letterkenny.”

Students will be guided through many aspects of Speech and Drama in fun and effective ways, including poetry, drama and solo acting, improvisation, mime, oral communication, public speaking, interview techniques and the theory of speech.

Anna is now taking bookings for one-to-one classes at the Farren School of Speech and Drama in the Gortlee area of Letterkenny.

Suitable for ages 4-18, classes take place on an evening basis from September 24th, subject to availability.
