Women in Business Brunch at Warehouse Bar + Kitchen, 8th March 2018

International Women’s Day was a great opportunity for Warehouse Bar + Kitchen in Letterkenny to host a gathering of ‘girl bosses’ for brunch and inspirational talks.

The popular bar was transformed into a sparkling scene to add a touch of glamour to lunchtime for busy local women. Guests enjoyed pink prosecco, pink cupcakes and delicious nibbles.

Lisa Crampsie of Warehouse led a toast to the success of every woman in the room, before introducing three key speakers who shared their business stories.

April McManus of LOCO Media talked about her life as a PR and events coordinator, as a makeup artist, and as a mother. April’s open and inclusive talk delved into the main elements of her business life: confidence, balance, and hard work.

Nicola McLaughlin, of the Sequin Cinderella Boutique Buncrana, opened up about her personal journey taking the leap from being a drama teacher to a fashion blogger and boutique owner.

Nicola talked about how she has used negativity to drive her on, accepting life’s setbacks and persevering with her goals. As a blogger, Nicola talked openly about the harsh world of social media – which can be seen as both good and bad in terms of publicity.

Nicola’s remarkable journey to success added proof to the age-old saying: ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’

Emma Boylan of Outside the Box PR shared the five key lessons she has learned in business. She also opened up about the negative side of social media, but said the key to fulfillment in a career is self-assurance and authenticity:

“Figure out who you are, why you’re doing what you do, and do what’s authentically you,” Emma said.
