Niamh McDermott received an unforgettable sixteenth birthday gift last weekend from Donegal star Daniel O’Donnell.

Not many teens can say that Daniel performed for them on their birthday, but Niamh is lucky to have friends in high places who made her day extra special.

Niamh is the daughter of celebrity chef Brian McDermott, who was working with Daniel on a forthcoming TV production in Donegal last week.

But nobody knew that Daniel was going to deliver this unforgettable gift, Brian said.

“Niamh was 16 on Saturday,” Brian told Donegal Woman, “Daniel surprised everyone when he disappeared and arrived back a while later with a cake and candles. It’s just purely the type of man he is.”

A budding chef herself, Niamh has been assisting Brian as she develops her own cooking career.

The Moville Community College student has already made her TV debut with No Salt Chef Brian on RTE’s Today show, plus she and her sister Aoife created their own recipes for Brian’s upcoming cookbook ‘Donegal Table’, due for release in March.

Niamh celebrated her 16th birthday with a party later on Saturday, where she cooked up a feast for all her friends. She also had her priceless video of Daniel’s present to show to everyone.

“I said to her: ‘You’ll always remember your 16th Birthday’,” Brian added.
