After you see the photos, you'll see why these local photographers are masters of the wedding game.

Three Donegal photographers have been chosen as winners of the highly-influential Masters of Photography Awards.

Paul Doherty, Paul McGinty and Jay Doherty have all earned places on the final list of the 2017 Masters Awards Winners.

The three visual artists have captured wedding photos in individually unique ways to scoop Lifetime Awards in the contest.

The Masters is a photo contest for the best wedding photography in the UK and Ireland. An international jury presents new awards to the best, most exceptional and innovative wedding photos every three months.

Every picture has a story, so Donegal Woman discovered the tale behind the prizewinning photos:

Paul Doherty – Paul Doherty Photography

Paul shot this fun photo on a beach in Cancun Mexico. A Canadian couple had a beautiful seaside wedding which was artfully captured in a bird’s’ eye view using a drone

This destination wedding gave Paul the chance to achieve the photo which has so much personality.

“I had this idea to take the shot and luckily enough the sun played its part and the shadows were nice,” he said. “You can’t rely on the sun in Donegal!”

Paul McGinty captured this striking photo of Monaghan bride Leona Beagan on January 21st 2017

“This was taken when she was getting ready in the morning,” Paul says, “There was a lovely low sun coming through her bedroom window. This winter sun created the lovely effect.”

Jay Doherty – Jay Doherty Photography

Muff-based photographer Jay Doherty had two photos selected for lifetime Masters awards.

Jay was unavailable for contact this week – we assume he’s still celebrating in style after this Facebook post on Tuesday:

I’m back in the game ma, I’m stoked ! Thanks to the folks involved, Liam and Debbie, Aisling and Michael – I am in your debt.

Tonight I will be celebrating in style with an Football Special and a bag a Monster Munch beef…

One action-packed image features newlyweds on a motorbike whizzing through their reception. They were getting married life off to a roaring start it seems.

Doherty’s second winner is an incredible scenic shot of a windswept couple braving the elements against a stunning backdrop.
