Travel columnist Anna Farren looks back on a delightful afternoon tea and spa experience with her mum at Solís Lough Eske Castle Hotel.

For your ultimate mother/daughter or girl’s day out, look no further than Solís Lough Eske Castle Hotel.

Upon arrival on the grounds that look nothing short of a real-life fairytale, Solís Lough Eske Castle Hotel offers the most ideal setting for an afternoon retreat in our very own Co. Donegal.

With a warm welcome from the concierge, mum and I were seated by the window, looking over the grounds of Solís Lough Eske Castle. We pored over the Afternoon Tea menu and very much anticipated the feast that was to follow.

The platter that arrived was nothing short of phenomenal. From savoury to sweet (with the most delicious hot scones, fresh cream and strawberry jam in between), we took our time and made our way through all that each of the 3 plates had to offer.

Having polished off every bite we could manage, it was time to make our way to the spa. With an extensive choice of treatments and pampering packages, one would not be stuck in choosing a treatment to perfectly round off a day of indulgence in Solís Lough Eske Castle.

I enjoyed a facial and back massage, sampling the most exquisite of pampering products by Voya. Following this, I happily retired to the relaxation room. Here, several teas and fruits were on offer. I chose a thoroughly satisfying camomile tea and enjoyed a magazine for some light reading and a complete unwind.

To finish, I made my way to the spa area and enjoyed their jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, before making ready for the short return journey of 50 minutes to Letterkenny, after an entirely relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.
