Ballyshannon man Gary O’Brien may have become one of the most-loved singletons featured on First Dates Ireland.

Gary (26) appeared on the reality dating show last night and won over the heart of his date Aine (24) – as well as the hearts of many across the county.

Ireland cheered on Gary and Aine during their sweet date – Aine is a baker who had the ‘recipe for happiness’ and made Gary smile widely all night long.

Aine, from Meath, had a soft-spot for Northern accents so Gary’s Donegal lilt was ideal. He certainly looked the part too, but admitted he was nervous in the Diary Room confession footage. He proved to be quite the charmer, telling Aine: “I must say – your eyes look class and I love your dress. You look beautiful.”

The pair discovered they had a lot in common. In fact, they hit it off so well after the first course that Gary had to call a friend from the gents to gush about how perfect Aine was and how well the date was going.

“As dates go, it’s been a fantastic date,” he told a friend.

Romance was flourishing in the Gibson Hotel dining room and host Mateo Saina could see the park between Gary and Aine.

They were getting on so well that Gary opened up about a previous heartbreak. He was ready to look forward, while Aine seemed like the perfect lady to do that with.

When the couple were quizzed in the Diary Room with the make-or-break question – “Do you want to see each other again?” – Gary went first to say a definite yes. Aine agreed too, so the second date was agreed upon with a fist pump. They even had their first kiss on camera.
