Instagram will soon have adverts inserted among Stories uploaded by personal profiles.

Instagram Stories came in last year and soon became a main competitor with Snapchat stories. The picture-sharing site allowed users to upload temporary photos and videos which disappeared after 24 hours and did not appear on timelines.

Since last August, Instagram stories grew in popularity and are used daily by bloggers and businesses. Now they are all set to have a major change.

Instagram have just announced they will be introducing adverts within stories. The ads will be full-screen and added into the stream of media posted by its users.

Instagram stories were advert-free until now, but the public Instagram timelines have had sponsored content among posts for some time.

The social network said that it now has 150 million daily users of its Stories feature, and that number had increased by 50% in the last three months.

Instagram will roll out these advertisements with 30 different brands, including Capital One, General Motors (Buick), Maybelline New York, Nike, Yoox, Netflix, and Qantas.

Instagram Stories will roll out globally in the coming weeks and Irish companies will have the option to advertise through his medium. Users will have the option to skip the video adverts in the same way they can skip through stories.

Stories are getting another change with the announcement of ‘Stories Insights’. This will allow Instagram users with business profiles to analyse reach, impressions, replies and exits from their posts.
