A Donegal man and his crewmates on board an Irish Navy vessel got into the festive spirit for an all-singing and all-dancing charity video.

Ryan O Breathnach

Ryan O Breathnach from Bundoran is an Ordinary Supply with the Irish Naval Service and is part of the LÉ Eithne crew who recorded a fantastic music video for CMRF Crumlin to raise vital funds for sick children.

The crew and captain of the well-known Irish Naval vessel held a special Christmas Jumper Day at sea in aid of the Tiny Hearts appeal for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and the Children’s Research Centre. The campaign was set up to help keep tiny hearts beating this Christmas.

Ryan is sharing this video so his crews’ efforts to raise awareness for CMRF go far and wide. Speaking to Donegal Daily today, Ryan said that it was all the captain’s idea to boost morale and help fundraise for the cause. The video was made off the coast of Kerry, and you can see Skellig Michael in the background.

The LÉ Eithne vessel and crew are well-known for their brave work in saving thousands of migrants’ lives in the Mediterranean sea during the refugee crisis.

It’s well worth a watch for the great jumpers and the not-so-great dancing. Santa even makes an appearance, but instead of a sleigh, he’s flying in a lifeboat!
