We put the model's favourite foundation to the test: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup

There’s something different about the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. From the moment I put it on I could see why it was the go-to product favoured by Kendall Jenner and countless other women.

Double Wear has also been listed among the best in the UK, so I’m a bit late to the party to only be discovering it now.

Double Wear prides itself on being a 15-hour lasting foundation. Does it really stay all day?

I’ve been testing it out for the past month and have become a convert – it really doesn’t move.

Everlasting

There’s an unusual texture in the liquid product once you apply it. It’s sort of a sticky texture before it dries. Once it has dried it has a soft finish, though it’s not completely lightweight, which is to be expected from a full coverage liquid.

It blends well and doesn’t sit in any lines or dry skin – something which is surprisingly rare to find in most foundations.

There is a great range in colours to suit all skin tones – warm and cool. Once you find your colour, pale skinned girls will find it doesn’t leave an orange streak anywhere near the neckline.

You can build up the coverage, but I found that the first light layer does enough to conceal any blemishes and uneven colouring.

Soft radiance

The product has a semi-matte finish with a lovely soft sheen. This gives a nice lift to the face since the base colour is quite heavy. The foundation is oil free, but you might need a little powder if you have naturally oily areas.

And yes, it does Stay-All-Day – and all night too. I have worn this for daily wear and on nights out and it holds great. It’s also a well-suited base for contouring and highlighting powders.

One small flaw

My only gripe with this is the bottle – there is no pump or applicator, and you have to pour the liquid out onto your hand – which usually means I pour out too much and have to messily work it back into the bottle.

Tip: Make sure to go for a colour match before buying Double Wear. Since there are so many shades a beauty advisor will be sure to find one that suits you.

Where to buy

Donegal women can purchase Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup at McElhinneys in Ballybofey or online with Debenhams, Boots, Brown Thomas and many other premium beauty stockists.

Average price: €36-€40 Yes it’s pricey, but I think it’s worth the money when it works so well. The bottle is quite small (30ml), so I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to make it last and get the most for my money.
